- A Little Bit of Auspit History The Auspit was designed and manufactured by Australian engineer and bushman Rhett Thompson. Inspired by camping trips and evenings spent cooking over the fire, Rhett set out to create a compact, portable spit that could cook in the background while he enjoyed time with mates. After several prototypes, the design that became known as “The Little Aussie Legend” was born. More than 15 years later, the design remains unchanged and is enjoyed by thousands of campers worldwide.
